International Workshop on Mobile Big Data

Joint with Chinacom 2017, Xi’an, China

With the rapid growth of smart phones and wireless technology, mobile applications and services in the world are continued expansion. The advanced mobile communitions and computation greatly enhance the user’s experience by the notion of “carrying small while enjoying large”, which have brought a huge impact to all aspects of people’s lifestyles in terms of work, entertainment, social, and economy. The proliferation of mobile devices and their enhanced onboard sensing capabilities are some of the major forces that drive the explosion of mobile data. Furthermore, advances in social networking and cyber-physical systems are making mobile data “big” and increasingly challenging for storage and processing.

As a whole, mobile data has unique characteristics, e.g., mobile sensing, moving flexibility, noise, and a large amount of redundancy. Recently, new research on mobile analysis has been started in different fields: the utilization of Hadoop, MapReduce, and other advanced database techniques for mobile data mining; mobile data collection and sensing; software-defined data transmission and processing; applications of data mining such as mobility and demographic tracing; user, business and legal requirements for anonymization and privacy of mobile data and how to reconcile conflicting requirements; tools and techniques for crawling, processing, visualization and analysis of mobile datasets; and data management issues related to emerging mobile applications like crowdsourcing.

In this workshop, we are particularly interested in high quality contributions and innovations in the interdisciplinary area of mobile big data technologies, applications, services and experiences but not limited to the topics of interest listed below:

  • Representation Formats for Mobile Big Data
  • Mobile Big Data Sensing and Collection
  • Mobile Big Data Analytics and Metrics
  • Advance Networking Technologies like SDN and NFV for Mobile Big Data Algorithms and Programming Techniques for Mobile Big Data Processing
  • Foundational Models for Mobile Big Data
  • Mobile Data Management
  • Data Mining for Mobile Applications
  • Mobile Big Data Driven Communication and Cloud Computing
  • Human-centric Activity Recognition based on Mobile Big Data
  • Context-aware, Emotion-aware, Location-based Mobile Services
  • Big Data in Mobile and Pervasive Computing
  • Mobile Big Data Security, Privacy, and Services
